Guzi-West will now be able to provide same day results for many analyses. Our firm has just purchased two Viken Detection Pb200i X-ray fluorescent (XRF) analyzers to analyze and instantly report lead concentrations in paint. We can now provide same day results for the following:

  • Asbestos concentrations
  • Lead concentrations
  • Bacteria/sewage concentrations for clearance.
  • Mold concentrations by genus

Guzi-West Now Testing for Naturally Occurring Asbestos in California

In California, regulations have been implemented to protect the public from exposure to Naturally Occurring Asbestos. The most common type of NOA asbestos is chrysotile, other types such as tremolite and actinolite are also found in California. The California Air Resources Board (CARB) identified all asbestos fibers, irrespective of length, with an aspect ratio greater than or equal to 3, equally hazardous to public health.

Asbestos: Lack of Compliance

An audit at California State University uncovered a large list of ongoing problems that created extreme safety hazards for half a million students and employees. The University was fined multiple times for the lack of compliance on two of its campuses – San Diego and Channel Islands.

During the renovation of a former air force base located in Atwater, California—Firm Build employees, subcontractors, subcontractors’ employees and student workers were exposed to airborne asbestos. Directors knowingly strayed from safety precautions to save money during demolition and renovation. Prison sentences were handed down as a result.

History of NESHAP

AHERA,  asbestos inspection,  asbestos air testing,  asbestos testing, asbestos testing service, asbestos, NESHAPNESHAP’s standards were originally proposed in 1971 as a response to the clean air act of 1970. In the following years, amendments were enacted to further reduce the exposure to various air pollutants. By 2004, the final standards of NESHAP were entirely implemented.
